Between Us

What might be possible between us? Between Us began as a personal enquiry into our relationship with artificial intelligence. I wanted to explore the uncertainty of this moment through curiosity, proximity and touch. One figure human. One artificial, yet born from human imagination, minds and hands. Across the series, encounters move from a held gaze to a protective embrace. There is warmth, but also pensiveness. Neither figure knows what the future holds. Their closeness suggests a willingness to meet possibility with optimism, informed enquiry and care. The embrace becomes an expression of that openness, and of the responsibility we carry towards the things we create. The process became part of that enquiry. Developed through an ongoing exchange between human intention and generative systems, each image took shape through direction, experimentation and judgement. The moving portraits extend these encounters through restrained gestures and slow camera movement, allowing small changes to carry emotional weight. Between Us leaves its question open, inviting us to consider what we might make of the space between human and artificial life. Between Us / 02 received Official Selection in the Fashion category of the AI Master Award (AIMA) 2026.
